Born in Tucson Arizona in 1962, Khabir was raised as a lacto-vegetarian by health conscious, "naturalist" parents. In his youth, Khabir was already helping others to improve their diet and providing medicinal teas for common health conditions. It was at this time, he studied the traditional nutritional sciences and western herbal medicine.
In 1982, he began traveling to India to formally study Ayurveda; specifically to study herbal formulations and applications. After receiving a grant to research primitive cultures while studying Anthropology at Prescott College Arizona, Khabir traveled worldwide to study isolated tribes unaffected by the modern world. These trips resulted in detailed research on the lifestyle habits, natural medicines and diets of remote tribes in Borneo (Sabah), Northern Thailand, Nepal, India and later Africa. In Africa, Khabir traveled overland by Land Rover almost two years from Egypt, down the Nile river through Sudan, to North Eastern Zaire (the Democratic Republic of the Congo) where he studied along with other tribes the indigenous pygmies. After spending time in Kenya, he subsequently traveled across Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Botswana where he studied the Kalahari bushmen living in the Kalahari desert.
Khabir also lived in Japan for 8 years studying the Japanese language, shiatsu, reiki, massage and reflexology; consequently he speaks fluent Japanese. In Khabir's overseas travels, he has visited over 60 countries worldwide.

As a healthcare practitioner, Khabir is extremely knowledgeable of both traditional and current natural therapies. He has a deep insight into diets and herbal formulas that support the recovery from chronic health conditions and digestive issues. Since 1998, Khabir has dedicated his life’s work to understanding and treating the root causes of illness based on Ayurvedic health principles and practices. Residing in Ojai California, Khabir enjoys hiking, horseback riding, gardening and spending time with his son.
Khabir is the founder and director of Eat With Your Head a non-profit dedicated to educating children in healthy eating and living habits. His volunteer work includes educating children about healthy foods.
Thank you to my herbalist Khabir....who has come along side of me the past 7 months to help me get off my anti-depressant medication that I have been taking for 11 years. I've been drug free for 10 weeks. . . . Khabir addressed my diet, supplement intake, and mixed herb formulas and teas to ease the painful withdrawals. We incorporated a total organic, [wholefood] diet. My kids eat Ezekiel bread, drink raw milk, eat cashew butter instead of peanut butter, and YES they give me a little bit of a challenge about it....but when there is nothing else to eat they accept it. I'm learning patience. Khabir has been a pivotal person in my healing. Thank for teaching me how to take care of my health! Angela Stevens, Oak View
